The Access and Assessment Centre
The Access and Assessment Centre (AAC) at Vancouver General Hospital helps individuals and families access mental health and substance use services in Vancouver. Services include referral intake, on-site assessment, crisis intervention, and short-term treatment. Service is available by phone or walk-in, in the Joseph & Rosalie Segal & Family Health Centre building on the Vancouver General Hospital campus.
Choosing Therapy
Choosing therapy is a site is to help those who are seeking a private therapist navigate to the right resource and support. Listings are provided through the professional Associations and in partnership with the Division of Family Practice.The webpage also has links to several mental health resources to help navigate through mental health services as well as a Self-Management Resource page listing free to low-cost counselling, community-based immigrant mental health services, and vetted publicly funded websites and Apps that can support mental health.

Here to Help
The Here to Help website is developed by a coalition of seven leading mental health and addictions non-profit agencies. The site has extensive information on mental health and addiction issues.
MindHealth BC
Developed by Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health Care in partnership with the Shared Care Committee – a joint committee of the Doctors of BC and the Ministry of Health, MindHealthBC is a reliable tool for both doctors and patients alike. The new website is available to support GPs and/or patients to help those struggling with depression, anxiety or another mental health or substance use condition. MindHeath BC provides information on support groups, therapies, and toolkits for various mental health conditions.
Youth Mental Health
New app from Foundry BC provides virtual wellness resources for youth
The Foundry BC app, which is powered by BC Children’s Hospital, provides assistance and services to people aged 12-24 in British Columbia. The app includes services such as drop-in and scheduled counselling and peer support. All services on the app are free, and do not require a referral to access. The app offers video, audio, and chat options. For more information, sign up for one of Foundry BC’s monthly Q&A sessions.
About the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre:
The Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre is a provincial resource centre that provides mental health and substance use information, resources, and peer support to children, youth and their families from across BC. They provide peer support to people of all ages with eating disorders. All services are free of charge, and they can be reached by phone, in person, or through email.
Anxiety
The Anxiety Disorders Association of British Columbia (AnxietyBC™) is a non profit organization established by a group of concerned individuals, family members, and health professionals that works to increase awareness about anxiety disorders, promote education, and increase access to evidence-based resources and treatments. They have produced over 50 videos on YouTube and actively promote dialogue and exchange information on anxiety and anxiety disorders via their Facebook page. We highly recommend their Mindshift app which helps youth and young adults manage anxiety, using step-by-step strategies.
