Bio

Dr. Colleen Kirkham opened her practice in Kitsilano in 1993. She attended medical school at Queens’ University and completed her residency in Family Practice at UBC. Dr. Kirkham is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Dr. Kirkham is currently working with partners at the Vancouver School Board and the Division of Family Practice to develop an innovative method of teaching sexual health education to high school students. She was the Site Faculty for Research for the Saint Paul’s Hospital Family Practice Residency Program for 20 years, recently retiring from that post. As well,  she has served as the Curriculum Advisor for Evidence-based Medicine for the Family Practice Residency Program at UBC and the interim Co-director of Research for the Department of Family Practice. She is the co developer of the Maternity Care Calendar & Guidelines and the Pregnancy Planning Guide. Her current research interests include sexual health education for youth, evidence based guidelines for maternity care, listeriosis in pregnancy and open source electronic medical records.  Dr. Kirkham has 3 adult children.
